Tattoo Aftercare:

Taking care of your new tattoo is an important part of the tattooing process.
A poorly cared for tattoo will look just as bad as one of those home tattoos your friend got!

About two hours after completion, remove any wrap/bandaging and gently clean the tattoo with
fingertips and mild soap. We recommend a small amount of liquid dial antibacterial. Wash away
any initial ointment, blood and surface ink. Gently pad the area dry with a soft towel.

Allow the tattoo to dry for 5-10 minutes after washing, then apply a THIN coat of Aquaphore
brand healing ointment. There are many ointments and home remedies to choose from, but Aquaphore
is proven #1 amongst professional tattoo artists! This coating will slow the natural healing process
and prevent the body from forming a "scab." Scabs will eventually fall off and could take small
chunks of your new ink with them! A heavy application of ointment will only over saturate the site,
this can also cause problems when healing. A little Aquaphore goes a long way!

Apply this thin coat for 3-5 days after completion. You may notice a bit of flaking or your ointment
changing color. This is normal as your protective layer of skin replaces itself over the inserted
pigment.

Gently wash your new tattoo 3-5 times daily with liquid Dial. A clean tattoo heals more rapidly will
appear brighter!

After you have finished your 3-5 days of Aquaphore you may then switch to a mild lotion to help
prevent itching and dryness as the tattoo finishes healing. We recommend lubriderm, but most white,
fragrance and alcohol free lotions are fine.

As with any care product, if you develop a rash or irritation, discontinue use immediately!

Even though your tattoo is almost fully healed by now, we recommend that you do not soak in water for
two weeks, so no hot tubs, swimming pools or bath tubs for your new tattoo until this two week time
frame has passed.

What NOT to do with a new tattoo:

Touch the site with dirty hands, wash before applying ointment!

Share your ointment with others. This can cause a cross contamination of blood borne pathogens and skin related infections!

Tanning uncovered is right out! Exposure to uv rays, natural or fake-bake will fade your tattoo!
This is extremely important with a tattoo of any age. Free/discounted touch-ups do not apply to poorly cared for tattoos! A high spf applied to a fully healed tattoo will prevent fading.
